the concept

concept animals is a femme-founded and artist-run publication that fosters art conversation through supportive programming, art guides, show coverage and engaging content.

concept animals was born in April 2020 when Casey Alfstad and Hayley Labrum Morrison joined forces to facilitate a virtual space to celebrate and share contemporary art and creative community.

Casey Alfstad (she/they) is a new media artist and designer. In their practice Alfstad combines video, projection mapping and sculpture to create hybrid surfaces that highlight the malleability of the future. In design, Alfstad works with artists and institutions to integrate tech-media into creative practices.

hayley labrum morrison

Cofounder

Hayley Labrum Morrison (She/Her), is a painter whose work draws on her experience as a woman raised in Mormonism in Salt Lake City. Morrison has recently shown with Tchotchke Gallery, Co-Lab Projects, Art Room Fort Worth, GoodLuckHaveFun, I Like Your Work, Dougherty Art Center, and Martha’s.
